Pursehouse Rural Coonabarabran is located in a small central west community. The half way point between Brisbane and Melbourne, the town is home to approximately 2500 residents, 11 motels, 3 pubs and 2 caravan parks.

The local community of Coonabarabran is mainly agricultural residents, with the town having a strong reliance on visitors to keep the local shops and motel full and thriving.

A boost to the local economy comes each year, when the town hosts the North West Equestrian Expo. As one of the largest school sports events in the southern hemisphere, the town springs into action as school groups food the community. It is a centrepiece of the town’s social calendar and welcomes school children from across Australia competing in a wide variety of equestrian pursuits.

The team at Coonabarabran is made up of nine long term employees in roles ranging from customer service, delivery and agronomy to small engine sales and management. Products and services at Pursehouse Rural include agricultural supplies and agronomy services as well as Honda and Husqvarna sales and a small motor parts service.

The farming inputs of the Coonabarabran agricultural community are focused around dryland cropping and livestock. In recent years Pursehouse Rural Coonabarabran also supplied fencing materials to a Bilby protection program run by NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service and the Australian Wildlife Conservancy in the Pilliga Forest, helping to reintroduce an endangered native species to the area after an absence of 100 years.
