Putting Community First at Pursehouse Rural Clifton Farmer’s Charity Golf Day

Second annual Farmer's Charity Golf Day a success on all counts

Farmer’s and golfing enthusiast took to the Clifton Golf Course last Thursday 17th July for the second annual Pursehouse Rural Clifton Charity Golf Day. A total of 75 players came together to enjoy a day out on the golf course and raise funds for the Clifton Community Health Services.

Organised Pursehouse Rural Clifton, the Farmer’s Charity Golf Day proved a resounding success, drawing together players from across the district. The day was helped by unseasonably warm weather last Thursday which kept the drinks cart busy on course and the players happy.

Players enjoyed a social round of golf in the two-player ambrose competition and a free BBQ lunch provided by Mort & Co. Fertilisers. The day wrapped up in the club house with a prize giving presentation, raffle and auctioneering of a stock whip gifted to the event by Tim Logan.

The winning team, with a score of 59.5, was Tim Johnson and Craig Foreman, very closely followed by runners up Angus Sommes and Brad Jamieson with a score of 59.75. Third place was taken by Maurice Monkton and Will Duff with a score of 60.5, followed by Sue and Bill Murdoch in fourth place with a score of 61.25. The longest drive was awarded to Darren Hedges and nearest to pin was awarded to Jason Wienert.

All in all, a fantastic day which would not have been possible without the support of sponsors from across the Clifton community and the agricultural sector. Pursehouse Rural Clifton would like to express their thanks to the following sponsors; McConachie Stedman, East Coast Lubes, Ray White Rural Pittsworth and Warwick, Alphagen Seeds, Pioneer Seeds, Brown and Hurley Toowoomba, Corteva, AGF Seeds, Nufarm, Selected Seeds, PB Agrifood, CEFN, Philmac, Harberger, Queensland Agricultural Seeds, Conquest, FMC, Webster Cavanagh Rural, Pacific Seeds, Abbey Animal Health, Zoetis, AgBiTech, Agsolutions and the Clifton Courier.

In 2024 the inaugural competition raised close the $10,000 for the Clifton Community Health services with Pursehouse Rural and the Clifton Golf Club being awarded the Clifton Community Event Award presented on Australia Day 2025. An early count of donations and fundraising shows this year’s total will top last year’s efforts, coming in around $12,000. If you missed out this year, be sure to mark your calendar for next year’s Farmer’s Charity Golf Day set to take place on Thursday 16th July 2026!
